Setting up the bridge and injector

The Esprit Windscreen Repair System uses a hydraulic injector to inject resin into chipped or cracked windscreens.

The Elite Repair bridge is used to hold an injector firmly against the glass, creating a seal so that resin is applied to the break and nowhere else.

It is critical that the bridge is set up correctly as this will ensure that no time is lost, or resin wasted during the repair process.

The kit includes a mirror which can be attached to the inside of the windscreen to give a clearer view of the break as the bridge is set up.

Now it is time to apply the bridge. The arm of the bridge can be rotated left and right to aid inspection during the repair. Ensure that the arrow on the arm does not go beyond the outer markers on either side.

Set the arm to the central pointer and flip the cam lever up to release the sucker.

Apply the water-based gel to the rim of the suction cup only.

Press the suction cup firmly down onto the windscreen to expel any air, then flip the cam lever to lock the bridge into place.

The gel applied to the suction cup allows for a degree of movement once the cam lever has been locked in place, so you can fine-tune your positioning over the impact crater if it hasn’t aligned correctly.

Place the bridge against the surface of the windscreen, ensuring that the impact crater is aligned so that is in the dead-centre of the threaded aluminium collar.

Take the female injector with threading on the outside and screw it into the collar of the bridge.

Continue screwing the injector until the back legs of the bridge lift slightly from the windscreen. You can gauge this by sliding a thin piece of card behind the back legs of the bridge. This indicates that the injector is at a perfect 90-degree angle to the windscreen and the resin will not leak.

Look down the injector one final time to make sure the crater is still aligned to the centre of the seal, adjusting as necessary.

Once the bridge and injector are in the correct position, you are ready to apply the resin.
