Esprit continued to expand throughout the UK, taking on new customers and distributors through the 1990s and also sought to expand overseas. Esprit forged links with Glasscorp in New Zealand, BTB in Australia, Collanti Parini in Italy, Ferdfelt in Sweden, Routec in Finland, as well as Icor who sold Esprit throughout Europe as well as many more customers in countries throughout the world. Esprit also bought their factory in Newcastle Under Lyme, and took on a new salesman for the north of the UK, Neil Skidmore, who again stayed with us until his retirement three years ago. Two staff members, Glenn Kimberley and Steve Tomkinson started with us when we opened the factory back in the late 1990s and are still with us today.
In the early 2000s Esprit engaged a design company to bring the kit up to date, and we introduced the ergonomically designed bridge, heater and also introduced the LED lamp, enabling repairs to be carried out even more quickly than before.
Esprit were also thrilled in 2018 to be able to supply all of the Halfords retail stores throughout the UK with repair kits, and we feel that it’s a real testament to both the quality of our products and also the standards of care that we give to our customers that we would be chosen to work with one of the premier automotive products businesses in the UK.
In 2017 John and Pam decided to retire, and brought their daughter and son in law, Victoria and Dan Evans into the business for a year long handover. Dan and Victoria have spent the last couple of years making their mark on the company which started by hiring a leading team. Alistair Carlton joined us from National Windscreens to lead our Technical and Innovation efforts and Mike Ballinger joined us to lead sales across UK and Europe. Initiatives undertaken so far include updating the logo, introducing more online sales, social media, new products, online training, Made in Britain and Institute of the Motor Industry accreditation.
Our aim is to be the leading windscreen repair equipment manufacturer in the world, providing best in class technical expertise to all of our customers.
